Corrugated Roads presents a wild child’s journey through the flip side of Menzies’ Australia. A mother desperately seeking civility, a shearer father struggling to make a quid, an extended and highly dysfunctional family, Sisters of Mercy who have none, are all combatants the child must square up to and ultimately escape from.

Over 20 years ago, writer Alan Marshall read some of the short stories by then television scriptwriter Ginny Lowndes and wrote:
